Benny and Christopher, 18-year old freshmen at the University of Akron meet at a football game, exchange phone numbers and quite rapidly fall for each other. Everything is great until a tragic event in the past comes back to light and threatens to tear them and their supportive families apart. Akron touches the heart with universal and progressive themes including: the beauty and acceptance of young gay relationships, a mother's fierce love for her children, the burden of living with the most painful truths, and the ability to forgive.
