From Milk To Ashes
Amelia Eloisa, 21 minutes, Mexico, In Spanish with English subtitles

Set in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1890, two women from the Mexican aristocracy develop a secret romance that goes against the societal impositions surrounding them, risking their lives and reputation. The importance of making a film about the lesbian women who lived in Jalisco, Mexico, during the Porfiriato (1890) has been clear to Amelia from the origins of this project. These are women who have been invisible, for we have no historical memory of their existence. The short film explores the past with a modern perspective, consolidating a period that invites us to question where we are today.
