Joseph is devastated when his son Emmanuel and his fiance Joachim die in an airplane crash. The couple was expecting a child from a surrogate mother. Worried about the baby’s future, Joseph decides to look for the mother. Hoping to pay one last tribute to his son’s memory, the solitary sixty-year-old man will embark on a journey to Belgium to meet the young woman who initially refuses any contact. We learn about Emmanuel and Joachim only through flashbacks and fond stories yet they permeate every scene.
