Emilia is a teenager with the ability to see those close to death shine…literally shine. As she grapples with this gift/curse, her rigid nature begins to transform and soften after meeting Renata. Together, they make plans although unexpected circumstances force the two of them down surprising paths. We have all seen the coming-of-age story, but not like this. Mayfly takes the genre and puts it on its head lacing the proceedings with fantasy and magical realism, but the whole time avoiding the cliches and stereotypes all too often associated with the genre.
