11TH ANNUAL FORT LAUDERDALE EDITION OF THE OUTSHINE LGBTQ+ FILM FESTIVAL PRESENTED BY GILEAD, BROWARD COUNTY AND CULTURE BUILDS FLORIDA ON OCTOBER 10

Celebrities, Filmmakers and Local Officials to Attend Soirée and Screening of Controversial Award-winning Film, “Adam”

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (September XX, 2019) – Scott L. Bennett, a leading advocate for LGBTQ+ equality and diversity, will be honored with an Angel Award during opening night festivities of the 11th annual Fort Lauderdale Edition of the OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival on Thursday, October 10. A highly celebrated and sold-out event, the opening evening starts at 5:30 p.m. with a Filmmakers Soirée followed by a screening of the award-winning controversial film, “Adam,” at the Museum of Discovery & Science AutoNation® IMAX 3D Theater (401 SW 2nd Street). An after-party with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and entertainment will follow at Stache (109 SW 2nd Ave, Fort Lauderdale). The Angel Award is presented to an individual who has contributed to the betterment of both the Festival and the LGBTQ+ community.

For many years, Bennett has been a driving force for diversity and inclusion in the Florida social, humanitarian and political landscape. In addition to being a Producers Circle member of the OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival, Bennet currently serves as vice chairman of the board and chair of the grants committee of the Our Fund Foundation, the LGBTQ+ community foundation of South Florida (the second largest LGBTQ+ community foundation in the United States. He is a board member of SAGE USA, the national organization focusing on advocacy and services for LGBTQ+ elders and a volunteer with for Equality Florida, where he attends multiple yearly sessions in Tallahassee to further the LGBTQ+ political agenda in Florida. He is a former board member of the Empire State Pride Agenda and a retired LGBTQ+ corporate counselor for many prestigious Fortune 500 companies.

The 11th annual Fort Lauderdale Edition of the OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival, a bi-annual film festival designed to inspire, entertain, educate and encourage a sense of community through international and culturally diverse media that offer historical and contemporary perspectives on the LGBTQ+ experience, will take place October 10 – 20, 2019. This year’s hotly anticipated film festival will spotlight 33 stirring, contemplative, comedic and creative full-length features plus 18 inventive shorts from 13 countries, panel discussions with filmmakers and talent, and various parties and special events. Films will be screened at the Classic Gateway Theatre (1820 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale) and Savor Cinema (503 Southeast 6th Street).
